THE NATIONAL HIP-HOP MUSEUM GRAND INDUCTION CEREMONY AND GRAND OPENING OF NHHM FLAGSHIP RETAIL AND EVENT SPACE

Please join us March 11th from 4-10p for The Grand Induction Ceremony of CL SMOOTH, SPECIAL ED & DRES of Black Sheep. We will start off by reminiscing with these Iconic MC’s with the Live Broadcast of “Master Gee’s Theatre” which is the NHHM Executive Director’s weekly SiriusXM Show. Followed by the reading of Washington, DC Mayor’s Proclamation by Dir. Angie Gates. Afterwhich, Grandmaster Caz and NHHM historian Jay Quan will host the Grand Induction Ceremony where the legends are lavished with an Award, Custom NHHM Jacket, Fat Lace Hat, Inductee Medallions, Commemorative Cassette Necklaces, Custom Art by our Creative Director Andy Katz and Photshop Jedi. Because this is also The Grand Opening of The National Hip-Hop Shop and its dispensary ORBIT, Limited Edition Cannabis Strains will be released in honor of each Inductee: The Caramel King Kush, The Magnificent OG and Strobelight Honey Hash. The ceremony will be followed by a Special performance by Special Ed with his lifelong DJ and High School friend DJ Akshun Love.

The National Hip-Hop Museum opened “The Hip-Hop Shop”, their new flagship retail and event space, in January 2023. This 6,000 sq. ft. facility, located in the heart of Dupont/Adams Morgan, features the largest selection of Hip-Hop memorabilia on the East Coast including, vintage apparel, sneakers, toys, memorabilia, vinyl and art.

The space is also home to their newest dispensary location, “The Orbit Shop”. The museum’s dispensaries are the exclusive purveyors of Hip-Hop cannabis strains such as ONYX’s “SLAM,” The Sugarhill Gang’s “Sugarhill Delight,” DAS EFX’s “Googley Goo,” Grandmaster Caz’s “Casanova Fly”, and many other exclusive cannabis products.

“The Hip-Hop Shop” and “The Orbit Shop” are conveniently located at the corner of 18th and Florida, only two blocks from Dupont Circle, right next to long-standing neighborhood anchor restaurant Lauriol Plaza. This new location serves as the primary place where all aspects of the museum come together; events, inductions, cannabis, art, memorabilia and fun! A special induction ceremony and performance to officially launch the space is to be announced.

“Watching the museum grow from pop-up experiences, to induction ceremonies, to an art gallery, to a retail space and dispensary is truly a thing of wonder!” says Executive Director Master Gee, who has been at the helm of the museum for the last two years following his induction at its Grand Opening Ceremony in 2019.
